Nikolaus Dominik Since 2011, Cyril Merlin Fröhlich, or N.D.C.M. for short, exclusively produces collages of found and collected materials by hand. The focus here is mainly on fashion magazines from the 60s and 70s and old photographs of cities and animals. The images are created in a period of 6 months to 2.5 years, since the found items of size and color must fit exactly. Each of his pictures tells a story and has a specifically thought-out structure. After a group exhibition in an art hotel in Styria, in November 2013 he had his first individual exhibition in Vienna (1060) with state funding. In mid-May 2013, his second solo exhibition at BurnLab Vienna (1070) was sponsored by Coca-Cola. In December another single exhibition followed in cooperation with “NENI ART Collective”. In early June 2014, he realized his first international exhibition in Cape Town, South Africa. This was mentioned in the “Art Times” and a collage was published in this context in a local magazine (“The Burgers”). On World Savings Day 2014, another single exhibition in cooperation with the “Hypo Noe Group” was launched in several Hypo Bank branches and a large vernissage in the store on the Hohen Markt. Further exhibitions in Vienna and Ireland are already in planning. In his works he processes past and future, tangible and dreamlike. Each of his works either tries to describe a feeling that he had to describe, to preserve the past or to tell a story. His goal is to be internationally active and to create works that inspire reflection and questioning. His way of working is impulsive and independent of material and technique. He uses canvases, Kapa plates, drawing paper and magazines as a base for his works.
